With the recently renovated external fa?ade, the Sangtiandao Station, a transfer station of Suzhou Rail Transit Lines 2 and 6 and a major component of the Suzhou East Railway Station hub that is in construction, is expected to become a new landmark in SIP.

Under the renovation project, a new steel truss canopy was built to cover the station. The structure is about 21 meters high, with the maximum span exceeding 37 meters. The roof is clad with ethyl tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE) cushions which are like those on the famous aquatics center Water Cube in Beijing.

There are 5,478 sets of floodlights on the surface of the vast canopy, shining with dazzling brilliance every night.
