B. Braun Medical Inc, a global leader in medical technology, broke ground on the third phase of its Suzhou surgical instrument factory in SIP on Apr 8.

Since establishing its presence in SIP in 2004, B. Braun has introduced production lines for large-volume parenteral solutions, surgical instruments, and cardiovascular products to the park.
In recent years, the company has localized production of hemodialysis machines for the first time, expanded high-value-added medical device repair services, established the first wholly foreign-funded vocational skills training institution in China (Jiangsu) Pilot Free Trade Zone, and built a comprehensive medical industry base integrating R&D, high-end manufacturing, functional services, and professional education platforms. These efforts have made positive contributions to SIP’s economic and social development as well as cultivation of medical professionals.
The new project, with a total investment of approximately RMB100 million, focuses on localized production of advanced surgical instruments, including hemostats, needle holders, tissue dissection forceps, and laminectomy rongeurs. As planned, it will be completed and put into operation next year.
Notably, the project will introduce a manufacturing execution system (MES), which will enable data acquisition and intelligent scheduling across production planning, equipment operation, quality control, and material flow.
