The Suzhou branch of Barry Callebaut, the biggest chocolate and cocoa products manufacturer in the world, has achieved a milestone by exceeding the RMB1 billion mark in output value for the first time. This marks a significant stride Barry Callebaut has made in its operations in China.

The Switzerland-based Barry Callebaut has brought its over 180 years of industry expertise across the entire value chain. One in every four chocolate bars produced globally comes from the company. Established in SIP in 2008, the Suzhou branch has become the group’s first R&D center and manufacturing base in China, integrating large-scale standardized production with customized solutions.

Richard Yin, managing director for Barry Callebaut’s operations in Greater China, said, “The open innovation ecosystem here has empowered our transition from ‘manufacturing in China’ to ‘creating for China.’ We will continue to bridge global innovation resources with Chinese market’s demands, driving an upgrade in chocolate consumption in the country.”
