BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems (Suzhou) Co Ltd, a branch of American multinational automotive supplier BorgWarner in SIP, has explored a unique path for sustainable development relying on efficient implementation of ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) strategies.

“Decarbonization has been a goal since our inception,” said Zhou Liang, an executive of the company.

The company has made great efforts to make their products eco-friendly by using green materials, improving designs and upgrading processing techniques. Its electric controller is about 40% smaller and 30% lighter than similar products in the market, and energy-saving equipment is used in its workshops so that its energy intensity reduced by 48% within four years.

Last year, the company was recognized as a “near-zero carbon emission” factory in Suzhou, and a leader in SIP in seeking low-carbon development.

Moreover, the company uses three fixed logistics routes that link 14 suppliers to reduce times of deliveries, which can help reduce carbon dioxide emission by 20 tons each year. It also shares its ESG experience with its suppliers, hoping to foster a green supply chain.
